What to Know About WIZARDscape

Fire Shield Potion, HALO--The following text was delivered to my office by a delver from Architrave calling himself Bonhavoc. This adventurer claims to have pulled the document upon which the text is inscribed from the hands of an ancient wizard who died speaking the words, "This is what's written on the outward face of the dreamgate." Bonhavoc dematerialized before my very eyes before I could question him further.

Turn Cycle

This introduction to the Turn Cycle marks the launch of Project: Spin-up. Project: Spin-up is a schedule of a series of contributions to the Wakeling Knowledge Base that culminates in the next roleplaying game session of the WIZARDscape metacampaign.

We can sense it from here. Here, in the blue-green paradise we know as Earth, our species has derived from observation theories that imply its existence, and we have developed science and technology that detects its effects. Most auspiciously, though, homo sapiens, indeed any sapient creature, may also experience it indirectly through a social form of entertainment called the roleplaying game.

Taking each in turn, I'll begin with a brief discourse on its existence, follow with its effects, and end with its experience. This collection of existential clues is known as the Turn Cycle, for each subsequent clue is an advancement over the previous, and the beginning starts again at the end.

The Delving Call

A WIZARDscape experience begins with the opening of the dreamgate.  This is the dreamgate for all sessions of the Delver Down! venue.

Coming Soon to WIZARDscape: D&D 4th Edition

Well, I've read through Keep on the Shadowfell. While it's a good solid 1st-level adventure and well adapted as a beginning adventure for nufreaks to the 4th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons, it's rather longer than I expected, and it doesn't grab me as a module that will keep our interest for a dozen game sessions--or approximately six months of your gaming life.

So, I propose that we jump right into the scenario that's been turning on the little wheel in my head since I first learned of the impending release of 4th Edition.

So, by now you've heard my news. While I'm a little busy with the mundane side of life for a few months, I plan to get the continuing game cranked up again in January. I'll get to that shortly. Meanwhile, I've got a couple one-shots and fun things I'd like to do. So let's have a look through the crystal kaleidoscope....

Skirmish at Far Corner Keep

Battle at Moonfell Gorge is a place of constant warfare. Across this devastated terrain, the four factions are locked in an eternal conflict, always striving to gain a tactical advantage over their opponents, never accomplishing complete victory. The tide of battle is in constant flux, though the faction who establishes superiority at Battle at Moonfell Gorge, even for a short time, exercises greater influence throughout the metaverse.

Recently, forces of the Raging Skull faction attempted a covert move into a strategic position near the ruins of an old watchtower at Far Corner. Their movement was checked, though, when Bright Sun commanders were warned of the action by their battlefield spies and moved their own forces to intercept. Meanwhile, units of the Dire Flail and Crescent Moon factions scramble to join the coming battle. For now, each of the factions vies for initiative using small units to skirmish along the lines of battle.
